Olafsdottir and Norman Lead Mastodons at Rocket Classic

PORT CLINTON, Ohio - Through 36 holes at the Rocket Classic, Anna Olafsdottir and Taylor Norman of the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team led the Mastodons with an opening day of 158 at the Catawba Island Club.
Set at a par 72, the Island Club course played from 6,118 yards.
Olafsdottir opened her day with three pars and a birdie in her first four holes. The birdie came on the 335-yard 13th. After finishing her first round, she started round two with eight pars in her first nine holes. Her 78-80-158 puts her in a tie for 23rd place with 18 to play.
After an opening round of 88, Laura Caetano rebounded with a 76, the best score the Mastodons took on day one. This totaled 164, putting her in a tie for 41st. She had nine pars in round one and 13 in round two. In the afternoon round, she birdied 16 and 17 with a pair of threes.
In her first round of the day, Kennedy Brooker had birdies on holes four and 18, both par-4s. She turned in an 80-85-165 for 44th. She had four straight pars in her second round from holes 1-4.
Emma Schroeder shot an 85-82-167 to sit in 49th with 18 to go. In her opening round, she saw a birdie fall on the 450-yard par-5 11th hole. In the afternoon, she got a birdie on 17, matching Caetano.
Casey Bunner shot 81-88-169. She birdied the third hole in her first round and finished with 18 pars on the day.
Competing as an individual, Norman shot an 80-78-158, which tied the best of any individual in the field. She is in a tie for 23rd. Arny Dagsdottir also competed, shooting an 89-87-176.
As a team, the 'Dons shot 324-323-647 to finish in 10th. The final 18 of the Rocket Classic will fire off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12.
