Purdue Fort Wayne Women's Golf in Third at Dayton Flyer Invitational

KETTERING, Ohio - Thanks to an opening round of 308, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team is in third place at the Dayton Flyer Invitational with one round to play.
The Mastodons' 308 is seven shots behind second-placed Butler. Indianapolis is leading the tournament with an opening round score of 291. Ohio State's Alexis Phadungmartvorakul is leading the tournament, shooting 67 as an individual.
The 'Dons are ahead of all four other Horizon League teams in the field: Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State.
Playing from the No. 2 spot, Laura Caetano led the Mastodons with an opening round of 74. She had just three holes over par, finishing with 15 pars. Caetano is tied for 11th place. Emma Schroeder was close behind Caetano, shooting a 75. Schroeder carded a 2-under 33 on the front, with birdies on the third, fourth and ninth holes. This led her to 15th place.
Kennedy Brooker fired off a 79, turning in a birdie on hole seven. She had nine pars, leading her to 36th place. Anna Olafsdottir turned in an 80 to round out the team score. She finished day one in 40th place thanks to 10 pars.
Taylor Norman also competed for the team score, shooting an 83. She had eight pars to finish in 53rd.
The second and final round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational will commence on Tuesday (Oct. 19) with a shotgun start in the morning.
