Six Athletes Break Into Top 10 Fastest 10K Times In Program History

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Six Purdue Fort Wayne cross country student-athletes broke into the top 10 in program history in the 10K race on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Great Lakes Regional meet.
The Mastodons finished in 21st place at Friday's race with 619 points. It marks the highest the Mastodons have ever finished at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet.
Leading the way for the Mastodons was Andrew Whitinger, who finished in 95th place with a time of 32:00.5. His 10K time is the fastest in program history, breaking Sam Williamson's time by more than 40 seconds (32:42).
Behind Whitinger was JT Hodges, who finished in 112th with a time of 32:25.1, which is the second fastest 10K time in program history. Jarred Neff finished in 127th (32:46.8), good for the fourth fastest 10K time in school history. Draven Thompson took 141st thanks to a 33:05.4 performance, the fifth best time in program history. Nathan Mills was 144th with a time of 33:08.5, for the sixth best in school history. Nicholas Mills finished in 149th thanks to a time of 33:11.5, which is the seventh fastest in program history. Rounding it out for the Mastodons was Kehinde Oladapo, who finished in 188th with a performance of 35:04.9.
All seven finishers ran a personal record at the regional meet.
Notre Dame and Wisconsin finished first and second overall in the region and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla.
