'Dons Return Home for Pink Out Match Against Cleveland State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer will return home to Fort Wayne for their annual Pink Out match to benefit the Vera Bradley Foundation. Purdue Fort Wayne will go head-to-head against Cleveland State at Plex South at 2:30 p.m. Thursday's match will be the final match for the first ever Pink Out Week also featuring women's volleyball and women's basketball contests.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The 'Dons are coming off of a 2-0 win over Findlay last week. The 'Dons scheduled the game with the Oilers after Green Bay had to cancel their scheduled contest. Kailyn Wade knocked in a shot to the lower right corner after being set up by Cesiley LaCourt and Rylee Vruggink The senior from Windsor, Ontario scored her fifth-career goal in the 51st minute for the game-winner. In the 68th minute, Purdue Fort Wayne had one of its six corner kicks sent into the box that Findlay fumbled and gave up an own goal. This gave the Mastodons the 2-0 score that would hold until time expired.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
The Vikings are heading to Fort Wayne after a 3-2 victory over Oakland. Cleveland State scored on the only shot of the first overtime period. Kathryn Ramicone's kick was deflected by Maddie Young before Ali Martin jumped on the loose ball for the 3-2 win. Ramicone finished with a career-best two assists while Stevie Holbrook totaled three saves.
SERIES HISTORY
The last time the Vikings and Mastodons met was on September 19, 2008 at Cleveland State when the Vikings earned shutout victory 2-0. It was the fifth consecutive year the two teams played. The Mastodons' two wins in the series came Sept. 24, 2004 (4-0) and Sept. 25, 2005 (2-1).
THE GREAT INDOORS
This will be the Mastodons' third straight game indoors. The 'Dons should get used to climate controlled surroundings as games at UIC and Robert Morris are also scheduled to be played indoors. The Mastodons' home games against Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky will also be indoors at the Plex South. Purdue Fort Wayne also has a road game at Oakland on the schedule that could be moved indoors as well.
ON THE HORIZON
Thursday's contest will be the first ever home Horizon League match in program history.
THAT'S A BIG ROSTER!
This year's roster of 27 is the program's largest roster in program history. The 2020-21 roster has 11 freshmen, nine sophomores, two juniors and five seniors.
