Holly Anderson Breaks 36-Hole Record, Tied For Fifth at Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Ky. - Another Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf record fell on Monday (March 29), when Holly Anderson beat the program's 36-hole best at Colonel Classic. She led the Mastodons with a 76-69-145 to set a new 36-hole record, with her 69 in round two tying the 18-hole record. She is tied for fifth with 18 holes to play.
Anderson opened the day with three pars and a birdie, which paced her play to a 76 in the first round. She started the second round with a birdie on 11, then rattled off five pars in the next six holes. As she made the turn, she birdied holes 18, one and two. She finished her second round with five birdies and 11 pars. Her last birdie of the night came on her second-to-last hole, the par-5 ninth.
Emma Schroeder tied her career-best round on the first 18 holes, shooting 33 on the front nine. She birdied holes three, four and six, which made her scorecard have five threes in a row. In her second round, Schroeder birdied her first hole, then finished the round with birdies on holes nine and 10. She carded a 148, which put her in a tie for 16th.
Laura Caetano shot 77-76-153 to tie for 36th place with 18 to play. She had two birdies in round one on holes six and 17, both par-4s. In her second go-around, Caetano birdied holes nine and 15.
Anna Olafsdottir scored an 81-75-156 for a spot in 50th. In round one she had six pars and two birdies, which came on holes six and nine. In round two, she shot 75 thanks to two birdies and 11 pars. Linnzie Richner rounded out those competing for the team score with an 87-81-168. She had 10 pars in her second round.
Kennedy Brooker competed as an individual, shooting 84-78-162 for 70th.
Host Eastern Kentucky is leading the field with a team score of 578. Cincinnati's Katie Hallinan is in first with a 135 through 36. Purdue Fort Wayne is in seventh place with 602, just two shots back of Green Bay. They are ahead of Horizon League foe Cleveland State by 13 strokes.
The last round of the Colonel Classic will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
