9/18/2021 10:42:00 PM | Men's Soccer
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A second half goal by Northern Kentucky was the difference in Purdue Fort Wayne's 1-0 Horizon League loss to the Norse on Saturday (Sept. 18) evening.
The 'Dons finished with a 17-9 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Vukasin Bulatovic led the Mastodons with a game-high four shots.
Ayrton Redmore had one of several good looks the Mastodons earned in the contest. His header hit off the post in the fifth minute.
The Mastodons' best chance of the game came in the 21st minute. An NKU yellow card in the box gave the 'Dons a penalty kick. Keith Larson's attempt was saved but the rebound went to Alejandro Lopez, however, Lopez' rebound attempt was also stopped by NKU goalkeeper Daniel Bermingham.
With about 16 minutes left in the first half, Keith Larson weaved through the Norse defense to give himself a good look that ultimately was saved.
It stayed a scoreless game until the 52nd minute when NKU's Jesse Randall scored off a free kick. The set piece tally would be the only goal of the game.
Northern Kentucky improves to 3-3-0 (1-1-0 Horizon). Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 2-4-1 (0-2-0 Horizon). The 'Dons are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 25) when Robert Morris comes to Fort Wayne.
