Historic Mastodon Women's Soccer Season Comes to an End

MILWAUKEE - The best season in Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer history came to a close on Thursday night (Nov. 3) with a 1-0 loss to Youngstown State in the Horizon League Championship semifinal.
Purdue Fort Wayne out-shot the Penguins 14-12 and 8-4 in shots on goal.
The Penguins scored in minute 51, netting the game-winner after possessing the ball in their attacking third.
The Mastodons had eight shots after the YSU goal, including three on-goal attempts. Bella Reitano and Morgan Reitano both had a shot on goal in a five-minute stretch. Rylee Vruggink gave the Mastodons one last look in the 86th minute, sending a low ball that the YSU keeper was able to handle.
Morgan Reitano, Kelsey Gallagher and Mackenzie Evans had three shots. each. Reitano and Evans both had two on-target strikes.
Lizzie Haub, Gabrielle Fanning, Isabelle Wissel, Bella Reitano, Morgan Reitano and Samantha Castaneda played all 90 minutes.
The Mastodons finish with a record of 9-4-6. Youngstown State will move on to play No. 1 seed Milwaukee on Saturday for the league championship.
