Purdue Fort Wayne Falls to League-Leading Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team fell to the Horizon League-leading Wright State Raiders 25-16, 25-17, 25-13 in the Gem City on Saturday (Nov. 5).
After the Mastodons went up 4-1 on a block from Molly Mirabelli and Sidney Schiller, the Raiders went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good. Wright State never trailed in set two, but the 'Dons closed the gap to three points at the 16-13 mark on a kill from Iris Riegel. She led the team with eight kills.
Set three was all Wright State, as the Raiders led 18-7 thanks to 7-1 run. The 'Dons had a 4-1 push with a pair of kills from Mirabelli and an ace Rachael Crucis, but Wright State finished the match on a 6-2 run.
Schiller and LonDynn Betts had 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 8-19, 4-12 Horizon League. Wright State improves to 24-3, 16-0. The Raiders clinched sole possession of the Horizon League regular season championship with the win.
The Mastodons will return to the Summit City on Friday (Nov. 11) to welcome Oakland. Saturday's (Nov. 12) match against Cleveland State will be senior day for the Mastodons.
