Purdue Fort Wayne Celebrates Pink Out With Wright State Game

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball will clash with Wright State on Saturday (Feb. 5) at 2 p.m. in the Gates Sports Center. The game will be the Mastodons' 15th annual Pink Out game, benefiting the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

Wright State is 2-16, 1-12 in Horizon League play, but four of those losses have come by forfeit. The Raiders' one league win came in a 72-56 road victory at Detroit Mercy. WSU is coming off an 80-55 loss to Milwaukee. Destyne Jackson and Jada Roberson are leading the Raiders with 14.5 and 13.0 points per game, respectively.

Purdue Fort Wayne is celebrating its 15th annual Pink Out game on Saturday (Feb. 5), benefitting the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. At halftime of Saturday's game, Purdue Fort Wayne will deliver a check of 7,500 dollars to the Vera Bradley Foundation. This is the most money the Purdue Fort Wayne teams have ever raised for Pink Out. There will also be a luncheon prior to the game to honor breast cancer survivors.

On February 11-12, all Horizon League institutions are honoring the legacy of former Cleveland State head men's basketball coach John McLendon for being a pioneer in the game basketball, both on and off the court. He was hired by Cleveland State in 1966, becoming the first African American head basketball coach at a predominately white institution. He would go on to be a two-time Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.
