Casey Bunner Shoots 79 on Day One of League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Casey Bunner led the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team on Sunday (April 24) in the first round of the Horizon League Championship with a 79.
Bunner started her day with five pars in the first six holes. After making the turn, she parred the first three holes before dropping a birdie on the 400-yard 13th. She finished her day with a birdie on 18 to card the 79. She is in 16th place with 36 holes to play.
Anna Olafsdottir was one shot back of Bunner thanks to 12 pars, including seven on the front nine. Her 80 was good for a tie with Kennedy Brooker for 22nd place. Brooker tied Olafsdottir's 80 with seven pars and two birdies. Her birdies came on holes five and 13, both par-5s.
Laura Caetano shot an 82 to tie for 30th after 18. She birdied the 150-yard second and joined Bunner and Brooker as the third Mastodon to birdie hole 13. Arny Dagsdottir shot a 91 to tie for 43rd. She had five pars in her first round of the week.
As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne shot 321. They occupy seventh place, ahead of Northern Kentucky and UIC. Oakland is leading the field with a 306, led by individual leader Amalia Shahzan, who was 1-under with a 72. Just 20 shots separate first-place Oakland and ninth-place UIC.
Round two of the Horizon League Championship begins tomorrow, Monday, April 25 with tee times running from 7:30 to 10:18 a.m.
