Best Season in Mastodon Men's Golf History Comes to an End

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team wrapped up its best season in program history on Tuesday (April 26). The Mastodons took fifth at the Horizon League Championship.
The Mastodons turned in a 302-302-296-900 performance at the league championship. Wright State won the team title with an 851, led by individual medalist Mikkel Mathiesen, who shot 203.
Kasey Lilly led the Mastodons, as he has done all year, tying for 13th. He saw three birdies fall in his final round, finishing with 75-70-75-220. He also had 10 pars. The junior has the best career scoring average in program history with 72.71. His 71.9 average this season is also the best in program history.
Brett Seward had his best round of the week on the final day, finishing with 73-79-72-224. On Tuesday, he started with six pars and three bogeys on the front nine, then turned a corner on the back. He birdied 10, then had three pars before dropping in an eagle on the 505-yard 14th. Then he finished his round with four more pars. His even last round bumped him up five spots on the leaderboard to tie for 20th.
Hunter Mefford carded a 76-77-74-227, taking sole possession of 26th place. He dropped in birdies on holes one, 14 and 18 to pair with 10 pars. Tyler Green also had his best round of the week, shooting 80-76-75-231. He tied for 30th after turning in three birdies in a five-hole stretch on the back nine. He also had nine pars.
Reece Compton played as the alternate on Tuesday, turning in an 82. His round was highlighted by seven straight pars on the back nine.
Purdue Fort Wayne finishes the season with a 294.2 scoring average as a team, which marks the best in its 19-year history. The Mastodons also had a program best head-to-head win/loss record, going 83-55 in 2021-22.
