The Mastodons dominated the majority of play in the contest but it was Chicago State on the board first. Delaney Kenney used a low line drive strike on a free kick in the 24th minute.
It stayed 1-0 until the 41st minute when the 'Dons scored off a free kick of their own. Gigi Ricciardi finished off the set piece from Mackenzie Evans.
The 'Dons made it a 3-1 game with a pair of tallies in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Rylee Vruggink assisted on both goals. She sent a ball to Kelsey Gallagher in the 53rd minute that the Chicago State goalkeeper misplayed off the foot of Gallagher.
Goal number three for the 'Dons was set up Vruggink dancing on the end line and finding Mackenzie Evans only a few yards in front of the goal in minute 65.
Evans added her second goal of the game in the final minute of the contest.
The 'Dons finished the game with a 19-7 edge in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks.
Samantha Castaneda picked up four saves in 88:55 between the sticks.
The 'Dons put their 1-0 record on the line on Sunday (Aug. 21) at Eastern Illinois. Chicago State falls to 1-0.
