'Dons and Panthers Clash in Horizon League Opener on Tuesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Horizon League season opens for the Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team on Tuesday (Sept. 20) when the Milwaukee Panthers visit the Gates Sports Center.

Milwaukee is 1-10, but played a very difficult non-league schedule. The Panthers faced two ranked teams and two others that were receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25. The Panthers picked up their first win of the year at Purdue's tournament, which included a five-set loss to (RV) Utah, a four-set loss to No. 11 Purdue and a four-set win over Bradley. Ari Miller is leading Milwaukee with 2.76 kills per set and a .300 hitting percentage.

Rachael Crucis was named to the Xavier Tournament's All-Tournament team for her defensive efforts for the Mastodons. She had 57 digs in nine sets of action, averaging 6.33 digs per set. If that mark was a season-long average, it would have ranked second in the nation.

Purdue Fort Wayne had five players with 10+ digs against Western Illinois on August 27. This was the first time that the Mastodons had five players in double-figures in a match since 2018.
