Norman Leads Mastodons to Fifth at Briar Ridge Invitational

SCHERERVILLE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team took fifth at the Briar Ridge Invitational on Monday (Sept. 26) thanks to a 153 from Taylor Norman.
Norman finished the event with a 77-76-153 to tie for 12th. In the second and final round, she birdied her third-to-last and final holes of the day. She had 10 pars to go with the two birdies. Her 12th-place finish is the best of her career.
Anna Olafsdottir shot 79-78-157 to tie for 23rd in the 73-player field. She had 14 pars in her last round of the week.
Adrienne Rohwedder and Arny Dagsdottir tied for 38th with a pair of 162's. Rohwedder birdied holes one and three, finishing with 80-82-162. Dagsdottir had 10 pars on Monday, carding 81-81-162. Laura Caetano was one shot back of her tied teammates at 8-81-163. She had eight-straight pars on the back nine and birdies on holes two and five.
Playing as individuals, Luiza Caetano and Natalie Papa tied for 51st and 55th, respectively. Caetano shot 81-84-165 and Papa notched a 78-90-168.
The Mastodons' fifth-place finish is their best of the young season. They shot 317-316-633 as a team. The 'Dons topped Horizon League teams Cleveland State (639), Detroit Mercy (645) and Northern Kentucky (650). Morehead State won the team title with a 598.
Purdue Fort Wayne will be back in action on October 10-11 at the Rocket Classic in Port Clinton, Ohio.
