Mastodon WBB Welcomes Great Lakes Christian For Home Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team has its home opener this Saturday (Nov. 11) when Great Lakes Christian visits the Gates Sports Center for a 1 p.m. tip.

Purdue Fort Wayne announced that it will take a foreign tour over the summer of 2024. The Mastodons will travel to Italy for nine days, playing two games against local talent and sightseeing various locales in Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre and Como.

The Mastodons returned 77.4 percent of minutes and 78.0 percent of scoring from 2022-23 for this season.

Audra Emmerson is shooting 47.1 percent from 3-point range since January 1, 2023, a mark of 40-of-85 over 20 games.

The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team ranked 19th in the nation in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 last season. They recorded a 3.596 GPA in the 2022-23 season. They had the highest GPA of all Division I women's basketball programs in Indiana.
On A Roll! The Honor Roll!
The Mastodons had eight players on last year's team make the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. Of those players, Amellia Bromenschenkel, Audra Emmerson, Jazzlyn Linbo, Ryin Ott and Shayla Sellers are back for 2023-24. They were among the 108 Mastodon student-athletes to qualify for the honor roll.

Purdue Fort Wayne has three freshmen on its roster for 2023-24: Konstantina Mantziori, Erin Woodson and Renna Schwieterman. Mantziori is from Athens, Greece and played her high school ball at Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She averaged 10.9 points and 7.9 assists in her senior season. Woodson was a 2,000-point scorer at Saint Gertrude High School in Richmond, Virginia. Schwieterman was an All-State selection as a local product at Jay County High School in Portland, Indiana.

The Mastodons fell 80-61 at Michigan in the season opener. Purdue Fort Wayne shot 41.2 percent from the 3-point line. Shayla Sellers led the way with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
