Mastodons in the Mix of League Schools at Nevel Meade Collegiate

PROSPECT, Ky. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team was sandwiched between a pair of Horizon League schools after the opening round of the Nevel Meade Collegiate on Monday (March 20).
Purdue Fort Wayne was three strokes behind Northern Kentucky and five ahead of Detroit Mercy. The Mastodons are in 10th.
Anna Olafsdottir led the way for Purdue Fort Wayne with an opening round 80. The reigning Horizon League Golfer of the Week was just four shots back of the best Horizon League player in the field of 78. Olafsdottir had a six-hole stretch of par or better from 6-11, which included a birdie on the 367-yard 10th. She is in 30th overall.
Luiza Caetano and Laura Caetano were both one shot back of Olafsdottir with 81s in round one. After an uneven back nine for Luiza that featured a birdie on 12, she finished her day with a clean five-hole stretch of all pars. Laura shot 81 with seven pars. She birdied her last hole (7) to move into a tie with her sister.
Arny Dagsdottir turned in an 84 to tie for 55th place in round one. She started her day with a birdie on the 124-yard fifth hole, then birdied the 15th hole. That was a 159-yard par-3. Natalie Papa was two shots back of Dagsdottir, finishing with an 86. She had a birdie on 16 to pair with fives pars.
Central Michigan is leading the field with a 297. Chippewa's Casilda Allendesalazar was the best individual with a 70.
The final round of the Nevel Meade Collegiate will tee off on Tuesday morning (March 21).
