Masty Awards Celebrate Best of 2022-23

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On Thursday (April 27) evening at the Walb International Ballroom, Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodon student-athletes and program contributors were celebrated during the annual Masty Awards presented by Northwestern Mutual. The event was hosted by WANE TV's Josh Ayen with Mastodon student-athletes and staff presenting several awards.

The event provided recognition for the achievements – both athletically and academically – of Purdue Fort Wayne's sports teams during the 2022-23 academic year. The event also recognized each team's seniors. Inductees into Chi Alpha Sigma were also recognized. Awards presented include:

Heart of a Don Award – Riley Ott (women's basketball)
Male Athlete of the Year – Kasey Lilly (men's golf) & Kai Auernheimer (men's track & field)
Female Athlete of the Year – Samantha Castaneda (women's soccer)
Senior Male Athlete of the Year – Jarred Godfrey (men's basketball)
Senior Female Athlete of the Year – Gabby Fanning (women's soccer)
Freshman Male Athlete of the Year – Colten Gasson (men's track and field/cross country) & Abe Arellano (men's soccer)
Freshman Female Athlete of the Year – Grace Hollopeter (softball)
David R. Skelton Award – Riley Ott (women's basketball), Brooke Wintlend (softball), Braedon Blackford (baseball), Kelsey Gallagher (women's soccer), Sidney Schiller (women's volleyball) and Davey Singer (men's volleyball)
Fan of the Year – Danna Whitney
Tony Laux Volunteer of the Year – Lucy Coffman
Standing Ovation Award – Brad Peters
Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year Award – Cade Nelis (baseball) and Abbi Garwood (women's track and field)
Best Facial Expression – Nick Mills (men's cross country/track and field)
Best Hypeman – Draven Thompson (men's cross country/track and field)
Best Super Fan – Zach Solomon (men's volleyball)
Most Studious – Lauryn Brucchieri (women's soccer)
Academic Excellence Award – Kai Auernheimer (men's track & field) and Brayden Langden (women's cross country and track and field)
Best International Athlete – Kai Auernheimer (men's track & field)
Best Road Trip Moment – Women's soccer at Oakland
Best Play – Braedon Blackford (baseball) – two home runs vs. Ball State
Best Celebration – Men's basketball win over Wright State
Best Record Breaking Performance – Jarred Godfrey (men's basketball) – most career points
Best Dressed – Morgan and Bella Reitano (women's soccer)
Best Drip – Brook Wintlend (softball) and Emmanuel Jurineack (men's volleyball)
