Jesseca Hudson-Turpin Wins 100 Hurdles Crown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team won their third individual title of the 2023 Horizon League Track and Field Championships on Sunday (May 7). Jesseca Hudson-Turpin won the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.80. She was one of three Mastodons in the final. Jordan Yanders was third (14.14) and Dylan Kirkwood earned fifth (14.47).
Hudson-Turpin nearly made it a two-championship day. She took second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:00.29), missing first by .01 of a second. She beat her own school record with the performance.
Brooke Neal, fresh off winning the steeple on Saturday, took third in the 5000 meters. Neal notched a time of 17:29.77. Hudson-Turpin, Kirkwood, Katie Clark and Marissa Van De Weg took third in the 4x400 relay (3:51.08).
Ali Sparks was third in the hammer throw (50.38 meters). Lia Rivers was sixth in the hammer (47.88 meters) and Nakia Harris-Campbell was eighth (47.76 meters).
In the 400 meters, Clark earned fourth (56.67).
Louiza Kruiswijk scored a point for the 'Dons in the triple jump, taking eighth (11.26 meters). Miranda Haney tied for eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters.
As a team the 'Dons earned fourth place with 96.25 points, their most ever at a league outdoor meet. Youngstown State won the team title.
