Purdue Fort Wayne WBB Hangs 102 at Chicago State

CHICAGO - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team outscored Chicago State by 20 in the second half en route to a 102-76 win in the Windy City.
It was Purdue Fort Wayne's first 100-point effort in a true road game since 2002 and the first away from home since 2013. It was also the first time since 2004 the Mastodons scored 100 points against a Division I team in regulation, and first time in program history to do so away from home.
The Mastodons had a 29-17 advantage in the third quarter. The 'Dons had a 23-7 run in a 3:22 stretch in which the 'Dons were 10-of-14 from the floor. Amellia Bromenschenkel had four layups in this stretch.
The 'Dons replicated their run to a lesser degree in the fourth quarter, doubling up Chicago State 14-7 over a 2:48 of the final 3:40. Erin Woodson scored eight of her 10 in this quick burst.
Purdue Fort Wayne had five double-digit scorers: Audra Emmerson (22), Bromenschenkel (21), Destinee Marshall (15), Renna Schwieterman (12) and Woodson (10). Those five were 38-of-51 (60.1 percent) from the floor. This included a 6-for-6 effort from Marshall and 9-for-11 performance from Bromenschenkel.
Bromenschenkel finished with 21 points on 81.8 percent shooting with four steals, three rebounds, two assists and a block without a turnover.
While the 'Dons had no one grab more than five rebounds, Jazzlyn Linbo, Schwieterman and Ryin Ott had five each.
Purdue Fort Wayne forced Chicago State into 18 turnovers that led to 22 Mastodon points. The 'Dons only had seven turnovers, which was a season-low. The Mastodons had 23 fast break points and 28 points off the bench.
The Mastodons finished at 52.9 percent (36-of-68) from the floor and 37.9 percent (11-of-29) from 3-point range.
Chicago State was led by 19 points in 16 minutes from Taylor Norris. Tae'lor Willard had 18 points and nine assists. The Cougars finished at 46.2 percent (30-of-65) from the floor.
