Mastodons Top Green Bay 1-0

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Thanks to a goal in the ninth minute, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team topped Green Bay in a key Horizon League contest on Thursday night (Oct. 17).
The Mastodons are 7-2-1 at the Hefner Soccer Complex after the win against the Phoenix.
The difference came early on when Morgan Gallagher sent a corner kick into the box that Bella Reitano headed into the net. It was the second shot and first shot on goal of the contest.
Green Bay had its chances later in the first half, as the Phoenix had five corner kicks after the Mastodon goal, but the Mastodons kept the visitors without a shot on goal until the 76-minute mark.
The Phoenix had a great look late with three minutes left, but Jordan Imes made a great diving save to the right.
Purdue Fort Wayne finished with a 13-12 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.
Imes recorded the shutout for the Mastodons, only having to record two saves.
Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 8-7-1 and 3-4 in the Horizon League. The Phoenix fall to 4-7-4, 2-4-2 in the league. The Mastodons are at Wright State on Sunday (Oct. 20) at 3 p.m.
