Tate and Genovese Lead 'Dons to Third at #HLXC Meet

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country took third place at the 2024 Horizon League Championships on Saturday (Nov. 2), with a couple of Mastodon top-10 finishers.
Riley Tate was the first Mastodon to cross the finish line, earning sixth in the meet (21:36.9) and a spot on the First Team All-Horizon League squad. This is her second career cross country all-league honor. She was a second team pick last season after placing 10th.
Ava Genovese also finished in the top 10, placing ninth (22:01.2) and picking up a Second Team All-Horizon League nod. It is Genovese's first career all-league honor. Lydia Carrell finished in 20th with a time of 22:37.2. Haylee Hile placed just a spot behind Carrell (22:42.9). Faith Norris followed, taking 31st (23:17.4).
Faith Allen placed 34th (23:23.1). Kynzlei Bassett finished 42nd (23:36.5). Mercedes Sarver finished in 46th with a time of 23:41.8. Bella Hodges placed 51st (23:49.2). Amanda Williams finished in 92nd (24:42.0). Haley Sponaugle placed 99th (25:17.0).
Purdue Fort Wayne totaled 87 points and placed third. Robert Morris (67) collected the win with Oakland (74) finishing as runner-up.
Both men's and women's teams will travel to Norton, Ohio to race in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The Mastodons will run in the event at Silver Creek Metro Park on November 15.
