FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball program has introduced two newcomers for the 2026 season: Carlo Huisden and Joaquin Jones.
Huisden is a 6'2" outside hitter from Westfield, Indiana. He finished the 2023 season with a .309 hitting percentage, 364 kills and 39 total blocks for the Shamrocks. Huisden was named to the 2023 All-Star First Team and the 2022 Indiana All-Star Team. He played club ball for Academy Indianapolis for four years. Academy Indianapolis finished fifth or better in two AAU National Championships during this time. Huisden was named to both the 2022 AAU National championship All-American Team and AAU National championship All-American Academic Team twice (2022 and 2023).
"Carlo brings some major fire on the court," men's volleyball head coach Donny Gleason said. "He is a dynamic point scorer and just has a knack for figuring out how to win. I have no doubt that he will rev up the competition level in our gym from day one. And growing up in the state of Indiana, it will be great for him to represent here at Purdue Fort Wayne for his collegiate career."
Jones is a 6'1" setter from Redondo Beach, California. He played club ball for Pinnacle Athletic Club and finished his 2023-24 club season with over 1,000 assists. Jones ended the 2024 season as California State Champion and was a 2023 AAU National Beach Champion.
"Joaquin brings the brand of volleyball that we're looking to establish at Purdue Fort Wayne: creative, smooth, and well-rounded," Gleason said. "He has a great mind for the game and does a solid job of putting his attackers in places to score. Joaquin is all-in when it comes to the sport, and I'm excited for him to be a part of our first recruiting class."
The duo will join the Mastodons in the Fall of 2025.
The Mastodons open the 2025 season with a trip to California to play The Master's, CSUN and UC San Diego in January.
