Burke Pitz Chases Medalist Honor at Sacred Heart Invitational

ORANGE CITY, Fla. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf and Burke Pitz are in the hunt for team and individual titles at the Sacred Heart Invitational. Pitz shot a 3-under 69 and is in a tie for second in the 63-player field.
Pitz was great on the front nine, shooting 4-under. He had three birdies in a row from holes 1-3 and another on nine. He had just one bogey in his round on hole 18.
Hunter Mefford shot 71 and is tied for seventh. The Hanover, Indiana native had six birdies and seven pars in his round. The included four birdies in a seven-hole stretch on the back nine.
Brock Reschly shot a 74, which included three birdies on the front nine for a 35. He birdied holes two, three and nine. Reschly is tied for 18th.
Kasey Lilly shot 75, turning in a birdie on 18 to go with 14 pars. He is tied for 24th with Nick Holder, who had a birdie on 17 and matched Lilly with 14 pars.
Freshman AJ Agnew shot 77 and is tied for 36th. He birdied holes one and two before a six-hole stretch of only pars.
Nick Bellush is in a tie for 48th after an opening round of 80. He had back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12, which highlighted a stretch of six bogey-free holes to start the back nine.
As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne shot 290 and is tied with Ferris State for second. Sacred Heart is leading the field with a 286 opening round.
The final round of the Sacred Heart Invitational will fire off on Saturday morning (March 9).
