Reschly Holds 10th After Opening Day of Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf's Brock Reschly led the Mastodons on the opening day (Saturday, Sept. 14) of the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate with a 74-71-145.
As a team, the Mastodons are in sixth with 18 to play. They shot 305-291-596. They are five shots back of DePaul for a top-five spot. The 'Dons are ahead of Horizon League foes Northern Kentucky (599), IU Indianapolis (602), Detroit Mercy (607), Cleveland State (618) and Green Bay (623). Wright State (576) and Oakland (585) are the only two league teams ahead of Purdue Fort Wayne.
Reschly had an opening round with nothing worse than a bogey. He had birdies on holes two, three, 11 and 18 in the morning. In the afternoon, he had a 2-under bogey-free back nine, adding five more birdies to his scorecard. Reschly had birdies on four, eight, nine, 14 and 18. Reschly is seeking the second top-10 finish of his career.
AJ Agnew was two shots back of Reschly with a score of 79-68-147. In the morning round, Agnew had birdies on two, four and nine and had a stretch of five pars in a row on the back nine. Later in the day, he had birdies on two, four and eight. He had an eagle on the par-5 sixth. On the back nine, he rattled off nine pars for an even 36. Agnew was one of just six players in the 75-player field to shoot in the 60s.
Freshman Julian Dugan shot 76-76-152 and is in the top-40. In round one, Dugan had six pars on the front and added a birdie on nine. On the back, he had a birdie on 18 with five pars. In the afternoon, Dugan birdied two, three and 15. He added six pars on the back.
Justin Hicks and Nick Holder both shot 155 and are tied for 47th. Hicks turned in a 76-79-155 effort. He birdied holes one and 12 in the first round and had seven pars on the back. Later on, Hicks had a birdie on hole eight with 10 more pars. Holder's 79-76-155 saw him birdie hole two in the morning. He also had 10 pars. In the afternoon, Holder had 14 pars.
The final round of Oakland's event fires off on Sunday (Sept. 15) at 8:45 a.m.
