Mastodons Fall to Northern Kentucky

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Northern Kentucky on Thursday (Oct. 16) at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
The Mastodons brought the energy heading into the brisk evening. The 'Dons took five shots in the first 25 minutes, only Cyann Retzloff's second minute attempt was an on goal chance.
Northern Kentucky stole the momentum for the remainder of the half, boasting eight shots on goal through the first. Jordan Imes put on a defensive clinic, denying each attempt up to the break.
The Norse kept up the pressure to start the second, taking two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the half.
Scarlett Webster took the Mastodon's best chance of the night in the 60th minute, pushing an attempt just wide right of the goal. Northern Kentucky managed to take the lead on a penalty kick in the 75th minute.
Morgan Gallagher took the 'Dons last chance to even the score, sailing in a free kick that was saved by the keeper.
Northern Kentucky led the shots (26-9) and shots on goal (13-2) advantage over Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Norse jumps to 8-2-5, 5-1-1 Horizon League, while Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 1-13-1, 0-7-0. The Mastodons will travel to Cleveland State on Sunday (Oct. 19).
