YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team came up short against Youngstown State 3-0 on Sunday (Sept. 27).
The Mastodons and Penguins played to a scoreless tie through the first 45 minutes. Purdue Fort Wayne recorded three shots in the opening half, with Mary McArdle, Morgan Gallagher and Cyann Retzloff each recording a shot.
McArdle led the Mastodons with four shots, while Hailey Hoskins , Gallagher and Retzloff each recorded one.
Youngstown State broke the scoreless tie in the 51st minute. The Penguins added goals in the 70th and 87th minutes to extend their lead to 3-0.
Sam Christle made seven saves in goal for the 'Dons.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 1-8-1 overall and 0-3-0 in Horizon League play. Youngstown State improves to 2-7-3 overall and 2-0-1 in league action.
The Mastodons return to the Hefner Soccer Complex for a league match against Northern Illinois on Thursday (Oct. 1).
