'Dons Place Sixth at Joe Piane Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country team finished sixth at Notre Dame on Friday (Oct. 3), the program's best team finish at the Joe Piane Invitational.
The Mastodons racked up 185 points at the meet, beating out all Horizon League competition in the gold race. Windsor won the Joe Piane Invitational with 73 points.
Riley Tate led the 'Dons in the gold race, running a personal record time of 17:34.1 to earn eighth. The senior's time was the third fastest 5K time in program history, beating her own time by 0.2 seconds. Ava Genovese was the second Purdue Fort Wayne runner to cross the finish line in 18:13.1, placing 28th. Haylee Hile finished 41st (18:27.2) and Lydia Carrell notched 45th (18:30.0). Faith Allen rounded out the Mastodon top-five finishers with a personal record time of 18:46.6, good for 65th.
Faith Norris earned 85th (19:02.2) and Amanda Williams placed 147th (20:09.4) in the gold race.
Four 'Dons ran in the open race. Kynzlei Bassett notched 69th (19:15.3), Ava Milligan finished 86th (19:44.2), Violet Francisco earned 110th (20:59.8) and Nori Silva placed 121st (21:57.8).
The Mastodons will compete next at the Bradley Pink Classic on October 17th.
