ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's soccer team fell at Oakland 3-1 on Saturday (Oct. 4) during the Golden Grizzlies' senior night.
Oakland began the contest firing, taking three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes.
Cyann Retzloff notched her first career goal in the 17th minute. The California native capitalized on Morgan Gallagher's third assist of the season.
The Golden Grizzlies took to the offensive, taking two more shots on goal while down 1-0. Oakland evened up the score in the 32nd minute, scoring on a penalty kick.
The Mastodons managed to take three more attempts at the goal before the half ended. Chloe Mariotti took two of the attempts and Bella Masse had the last attempt from both teams before the half.
Oakland led the shots tally at the half 11-5 over the 'Dons.
Scarlett Webster took the first shot on goal of the half, taking her chance in the 65th minute. The Golden Grizzlies turned around to take their own shot on goal in the same minute.
Oakland extended their lead by two, scoring in the 73rd and 76th minute to end the match with a 3-1 lead.
The Golden Grizzlies finished the game ahead in shots 24-8.
Purdue Fort Wayne drops to 1-10-1, 0-4-0 in Horizon League play, and Oakland improves to 2-6-4, 1-1-2 in league contests. Purdue Fort Wayne returns home from their road stretch to host Youngstown State on Thursday (Oct. 9).
