The Julie is Mastodon Women's Golf's Next Stop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In essentially a preview for the Horizon League Championship, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team will play in The Julie on Monday and Tuesday (March 24-25). Seven of the eight league teams will be in attendance. The Mastodons won The Julie last season.

Elks Run Golf Club, rated top-10 in Ohio by Golf week in 2010, is a 4-Star rated facility by Golf Digest. Enjoy friendly service at our pub as well as splendid views of the course on our outdoor dining patio. Elks Run is known as the best public golf facility in Cincinnati. Situated on 163 acres of lush, rolling hills in Batavia, Ohio, Elks Run Golf Course is a 6,845-yard championship course that is both challenging and enjoyable to play. Utilizing bentgrass greens, tees and fairways, this Greg Norman design takes advantage of the rolling hills and creeks to provide a course that works within its natural characteristics. Mastodon Lineup
Hunar Mittal, Natalie Papa, Lillian Gottman, Louise Ekesall and Lara Dommach will compete for the team score. Lillie Cone will play as an individual.
Expectations Set
Purdue Fort Wayne was picked for third in the Horizon League Preseason Poll. This marks the highest the Mastodons have ever been selected in a league preseason poll.
Runner-Up It Back
Olivia Jang and Hunar Mittal have both finished as runners-up this season. Jang was runner-up at the Islander Classic and Mittal took second in the Hammock Beach Invitational.
Simply The Best
Olivia Jang owns the best scoring average in program history with an 18-hole average of 76.82. She also has the best winning percentage of any Mastodon with a 77.7 percent clip.
Golfer of the Week x3
Purdue Fort Wayne has three different players that have been named Horizon League Golfer of the Week this season. Olivia Jang earned the award on February 20, then Lillian Gottman and Hunar Mittal earned back-to-back awards on March 13 and 20. Purdue Fort Wayne is the only school with multiple Golfer of the Week award winners.

The Mastodons took second at the Hammock Beach Invitational behind a runner-up finish from Hunar Mittal.
Coming Up
The Mastodons will play their final tune-up tournament of the spring at the Indiana State Invitational (April 6-7) before they travel to Florida to play in the Horizon League Championship (April 19-21).
