Holder Turns in 3-Under Effort at Surf Club Invitational

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Thanks to a 1-under final round, Nick Holder of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team shot a 210 (-3) at the Surf Club Invitational on Tuesday (March 10).
After finishing round two on Tuesday morning with a birdie on his last hole, Holder ran through the last 18 holes with nothing worse than a bogey. He started with five pars in a row before a birdie on 17. After a bogey on 18, he birdied hole one. With another bogey on three, Holder. birdied hole five to go back to 1-under, which is where he finished the round thanks to parring his last six. Holder's 210 was good 23rd place.
Justin Hicks and Brock Reschly both shot 214 for 44th place. Hicks shot a 2-under 69 in round three after going 4-under in his first six holes. He birdied 15, 17, 18 and one. Despite four bogeys on the front nine, he birdied holes five and 12 to move back to 2-under for the day. Reschly also had nothing worse than a bogey for his even round. After starting on 13, he birdied 14, one, nine and 10. The junior had just one bogey on the front nine.
Cody Coleman shot a 224 after a final round of 76. His round was once again highlighted by an eagle on hole one. The sophomore started with four pars and a bogey on 18. His eagle on the 499-yard first preceded a birdie on two, which put him a 2-under. Later on, he birdied 12 to take 87th place.
Julian Dugan rounded out those competing for the team score with a mark of 227. His 78 on Tuesday featured 10 pars and a birdie on seven. He tied for 97th.
AJ Agnew and Nick Bellush competed as individuals, taking 85th and 97th, respectively.
As a team, Purdue Fort Wayne shot 287-287-286-860 which matched Radford for 13th place. The 'Dons beat Northern Kentucky, the only other Horizon League team in the field, by 33 strokes.
The Mastodons will have their next tournament in 20 days when they make the trip to Indianapolis to play in Butler's Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational.
