Nick Holder Shoots 2-Under on Day One of Benbow Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team was just 4-over after the first two rounds of the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational on Monday (March 30).
The Mastodons shot 277-287-564, the eighth-best 36-hole score in program history. The 277 in round one matched the seventh-best 18-hole team score in Mastodon history.
Nick Holder led the way for the Mastodons with a 68-70-138, which is a top-10 mark in program history. His 68 marked a season-low. He had just one bogey in his first trip through the course and tallied three birdies. After starting on six, he birdied nine, then found back-to-back birdies on three and four. In the afternoon round, the Fort Wayne native had five birdies, five bogeys and eight pars. His birdies came on three, nine, 12, 14 and 17. Holder is in sole possession of ninth place with 18 to play. He is seeking his first top-10 since his redshirt-freshman season.
Justin Hicks and AJ Agnew are in a tie for 20th at 140. Hicks went 67-73 and Agnew shot 69-71. Hicks was the only Mastodon with an eagle, which came on the 565-yard 12th. He also birdied holes one, three, eight, 14 and 16 in round one. Later on, he birdied eight, 12 and 17. Hicks' 67 matched his career-low. Agnew had three birdies in each round. In the morning, they came on nine, 12 and 17 and in the afternoon, they were on three, 12 and 17.
Brock Reschly shot 73-73-146. He birdied holes one, two, eight, 12, 14, 16 and 17 in round one. In the second round, he was much more consistent, rattling off 14 pars with a birdie on six. Reschly is tied with Cody Coleman for 44th place.
Julian Dugan rounded out those playing for the team score with a 73-75-148. He birdied seven and 17 in round one, and holes three, seven and 12 in the second round. He is tied for 60th with teammate Nick Bellush.
Coleman (73-73-146) and Bellush (74-74-148) played as individuals.
The Mastodons' 564 put them in fourth place behind Butler (543), SIUE (552) and Indian Hills (555). The Mastodons are ahead of all six of the other Horizon League schools in the field.
