'Dons Shoot Fifth-Best Score in Program History in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team matched the fifth-best 54-hole score in program history on Tuesday (March 31) with a two-day total of 851 at the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational.
The Mastodons shot 277-287-287-851 despite windy conditions for round three. They tied for fourth in Butler's tournament, finishing behind the host Bulldogs (826), SIUE (834) and Indian Hills (839).
Nick Holder led the Mastodons with an 11th-place finish with a 68-70-72-210. His final round featured four birdies and 11 pars. The birdies came on holes three, four, seven and 12. The senior had two different stretches of seven holes without a bogey. Holder's 11th-place is his best of the season and best since 2024.
AJ Agnew shot 69-71-73-213 for 19th place. He had birdies on holes three, nine and 12 to go with 10 pars. His 19th-place finish is also his best in over two years.
One shot back of Agnew, Justin Hicks tied for 23rd with a 67-73-74-214. He birdied holes three, six, 13 and 16 and managed nine pars for his 74 on Tuesday. Cody Coleman matched Hicks with a 73-73-68-214 while playing as an individual. He birdied holes nine, 12, 14 and 18 with nothing worse than his two bogeys for a 68, matching his season-low.
Brock Reschly tied for 46th place with a 73-73-72-218. He started his day with six pars in a row and ended with seven more. He birdied 11, the 148-yard par-3. Julian Dugan tied Reschly thanks to an even third round (73-75-70-218). Dugan started with a birdie on the 563-yard third, then worked through the next seven holes with only pars. He birdied 12, then after moving to 1-over with a double-bogey on 14, parred five in a row and birdied his last hole of the day to go back to even.
While playing as an individual, Nick Bellush shot 74-74-71-219 for 53rd place. His final round featured birdies on three and 16 and 15 pars for a 1-over effort.
The Mastodons will head to the Cincinnati suburbs next week (April 6-7) for the NKU Jewell Invitational.
