Nick Bellush and Justin Hicks Finish Top-Third at Kentucky's Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Nick Bellush and Justin Hicks of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team led the Mastodons at the Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday (April 14), both earning top-30 finishes in the event.
Bellush finished with a 73-72-79-224 for 27th place. It was his best placement while competing for the team score in his career. After wrapping up round two to start Tuesday, Bellush had seven pars and three birdies in round three. He birdied hole 13 for the second time, then birdied holes one and four for the first time. Hicks was just one stroke back of Bellush with an 81-69-75-225 for 28th. Hicks finished round two on a four-hole birdie stretch then started his third round with five pars. He also birdied hole four, the 439-yard par-4.
Brock Reschly took 62nd place with a 76-80-77-233. In his round on Tuesday, the junior had nine pars and three birdies, including two on the last two holes of the day. He birdied hole eight to end the round, making up for the par-3 that he had only gotten 5s on in the previous two rounds.
Julian Dugan shot 78-86-77-241 for 86th place. He had birdies on holes seven and 13 to go with nine pars. Nick Holder was one stroke behind with a 78-85-79-242 for 88th place. He birdied hole nine with nine pars in round three.
Kentucky won its own event with an 858. The Mastodons took 14th with a 305-306-308-919. Marquette's Vinny Cervantes and Kentucky's Cole Stockard tied for the individual medalist with 213s.
The Mastodons are off next week, but will head to Florida the following week for the Horizon League Championship (April 25-27).
