Gottman Sisters Collect Wins Over Southern Indiana

JACKSON, Mich. - Lillian Gottman and Emily Gottman picked up victories over their opponents from Southern Indiana on Tuesday (Sept. 1), helping Purdue Fort Wayne to third place at the Midwest Match Play.
The Mastodons fell to Southern Indiana 3.5-2.5, with Gottman and Gottman winning their matches and Louise Ekesall halving her match.
Lillian Gottman won her match 2&1 thanks to a late push. She won holes 14, 15 and 17 to counteract Brianna Kirsch winning holes seven, eight, nine and 12.
Emily Gottman picked up a 2-up victory over Fernanda Vera. Vera went 1-up on hole 11, but Gottman responded with wins on holes 13, 14 and a birdie on 18 to clinch the match.
Ekesall halved her match with Tora Timinsky, despite falling behind two holes on 10. The two split the next five holes, then Ekesall parred the next two to even it up going into 18. The two both parred 18 to split the point.
Hunar Mittal fell to McKenna Lowe 2&1, falling behind two holes in the first four. Mittal won three holes from that point, but so did Lowe to take the match.
Amaya Wade fell to Kaidyn Wardlaw 4&3 thanks to Wardlaw winning five holes in the stretch from 9-14. Lillie Cone fell to Elizabeth Mercer 6&5.
The Mastodons are off next week, but will visit Paducah, Kentucky to play Murray State's Velvet Classic on September 14-15.
