Zimmerman was a redshirt in the 2010 season

2009 Season
Ran his best 8K time 28:00.09 at the Sam Bell Invitational. Led the team at the NCAA Division 1 Great Lakes Regional 10K with a 37:58.04. Ended the season with a 29:47.30 performance at the Summit League Championships.

2008 Season
Started off with a 17:19 in the Dayton Meier 5K. Posted a time of 30:35 at the Bowling Green Mel Brodt Invitational 8K. Ran a 28:06 in the Gold Division race at Notre Dame. Capped of the season with a 10K time of 28:05 at The Summit League Championships.

High School
Zimmerman set a number of school records in track at Peru High School. He holds the school record in the 1600m (4:27.9), and was part of the Tiger[apos]s 3200m relay team that blazed to a school mark of 8:09. He was a State Finalist in the 1600m, three- time sectional champ in the 3x800m, two-time sectional champ in the 2x800m and conference and sectional champ in the 3x3200m relay. Steve graduated 5th in his class at Peru.
