Gaines comes to IPFW from Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida....His senior season with the Cobras, the sharpshooter averaged 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for head coach Eugene Richardson. Gaines helped lead Boyd Anderson to a 30-2 record, eventually losing in the Florida 6A State Final. The Cobras finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in 6A and No. 3 overall in the state...Floridahoops.com describes the left handed Gaines as "Long, quick, and athletic. He can knock down shots from behind the arc, and is very good in transition. He can score in the half court off the bounce...Gaines was First Team All-Broward County and All-State Honorable Mention.
