The 2019 season is Mike Harper’s 13th at the helm of the Purdue Fort Wayne men’s soccer program. His student-athletes have won eight All-Summit League First Team, 13 All-Summit League Second Team, 16 Summit League All-Newcomer Team, eight All-Summit League Tournament Team and six Academic All-Summit League Team honors during his tenure. Additionally, his players have earned 26 Summit League Player of the Week honors.
In recent years the 'Dons have twice set the Division I era program record for wins, earning nine in 2016 and then 10 in 2018.
The Mastodons have reached the postseason four times under Harper, qualifying for the Summit League Tournament in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2018. Max Touloute scored the fastest goal in tournament history, netting a shot just nine seconds after kickoff in the Mastodons’ 2011 postseason contest. Touloute was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year in 2011.
He enters 2019 with a career record of 62-135-22.
A native of West Lafayette, Ind., Harper competed for the Mastodons from 1992-96. He left as the program's all-time leading scorer, registering 72 goals. He totaled 36 assists in his four-year career, as well. As a senior, Harper was named by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as an Honorable Mention All-America. He was a four-time Great Lakes Valley (GLVC) All-Conference selection and a four-time NCAA All-East Regional selection. In 2007 he was part of the inaugural class of the Mastodons Hall of Fame.
Following graduating, Harper played professionally for the Baton Rouge Bombers of the Eastern Indoor Soccer League (EISL).
Harper resides in Fort Wayne with his wife, Vikki.
