Kate Peterson Abiad

Kate Peterson Abiad (pronounced AH-bee-AHD) was named the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball coach on April 10, 2026.
Peterson Abiad was the head coach for Cleveland State for 15 seasons, where she won two Horizon League championships. In addition to the 2008 and 2010 NCAA Tournaments, Peterson Abiad led the Vikings to the WBI in 2011 and the WNIT in 2015. She has been on staff for seven NCAA Tournament appearances at her various stops.
Peterson Abiad is a native of River Falls, Wisconsin. She graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 1991 with a degree in psychology and earned her master's degree in counseling and educational psychology from Indiana in 1995.
