2001 Season
Thrown in as a freshman to start in both middle and rightside hitting positions, Meinhart had a lot of adjusting to do in a short amount of time. She was fourth on the team in digs with a total of 245 digs and averaged 2.69 digs/game. Her best performance was against Miami University (Ohio) where she dug up 16 balls and had a .375 hitting percentage.
High School
Meinhart, a 6-0 middle-blocker, was named First-Team Class A All-State middle hitter this past season. She also helped guide Bedford to the Michigan volleyball state championships in 2001. She was AAU Junior National All-American. She earned All-Region honors in 1999 and 2000 and received the team’s Outstanding Digger Award and Most Valuable Player honors. She was president of student council and received the Boosters Scholar Athlete Award for volleyball and basketball all four years of high school. Meinhart has also lettered in basketball four years and softball two years for the Mules. According to Coach Hartley, “I expect Melissa to contribute to our program immediately. Mo (Melissa) could play middle or outside for us and she has the ability to become a primary passer too.” .
Personal
Born March 24, 1983, Meinhart is the daughter of Tom and Ruth Meinhart. She has an older brother, Michael. Meinhart is majoring in graphic design/advertising
