
Men's Soccer Loses to NIU

Dekalb, IL - The IPFW men's soccer team's struggles continued on Sunday afternoon in Dekalb, Illinois. For the seventh time this season IPFW was shutout. This time it was a 5-0 blanking by the Northern Ilinois Huskies.
The 'Dons played another strong first half, giving up just a single tally in the 43rd minute. NIU took advantage of an IPFW foul as Luis De la Cerda ripped a free-kick past IPFW goal keeper Michael Knitter from out 25 yards out.
In the second half, the Huskies (6-3-1, 1-0-0 MAC) added four more, including the second of the match from De la Cerda, to cruise to the 5-0 win.
IPFW (0-9-0, 0-2-0 MAC) managed five shots on goal in the match, but all were turned back by NIU's Joe Zimka.
Knitter also made five saves for the Mastodons.
IPFW will look to snap its current nine-game skid when it hosts the University of Buffalo this Friday at 7pm.
