
IPFW Takes Down Bison in Four, Move to Championship Match

Fort Wayne, IN - The Mastodons went into tonight's match as the #3 seed in the Summit League Championships. IPFW left the match with five ladies with double-digit kills and a place in the finals, and the opportunity to play for the automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. IPFW defeated the Bison 3-1.
Senior Peachy Jankowski broke her own record in tonight's match with an impressive 41 digs. The 'Dons also set a new team single match record for digs with 129, blowing the previous 119 set this year against Western Illinois out of the water.
IPFW defeated the Bison, 30-26, 24-30, 30-20, 30-27.
Game one started off with a back and forth battle until the Mastodons were able to pull ahead by two 7-5. The Bison answered back, and the 'Dons went on yet another run, taking a 14-10 lead. They continued to hold that lead until the end of the game, 30-26.
The Bison started off game two trading points with the 'Dons until they took a two point lead at 15-13. North Dakota State would hold a good lead at 23-18, and would hold the 'Dons to take game two, 30-24.
The Mastodons answered back in game three, taking a 16-6 lead and holding that ten point different until 22-12. The Bison would start to make a move, but it was too little too late, as the 'Dons took the game by ten, 30-20.

The Bison weren't going down easily as they kept game four close, taking a two point lead at 12-10. Points were traded back and forth again, until the Bison took another strong lead at 22-19. A three point rally by the 'Dons would tie the match at 22, and a few more good rallies would put IPFW ahead by two, 25-23.
IPFW would take game four and the match, 30-27. They moved ahead to the Summit League Championship match which will be played on Saturday, November 17th at 3 PM in the Gates Center.
Five 'Dons finished in double figure kills, two with double-doubles.
Mayara Schlindwein led with 17 kills while Jessica Miller and Taryn Parker each had 15 kills.
Cynara Martins had a double-double with 13 kills and 21 digs and Rebekah Roehm had one with 11 kills and 31 digs. She added four block assists.
Jessica Dominiak had a double-double with 66 assists and 16 digs.
Jankowski set a career best with 41 digs in the four game match.
The Bison finished with four ladies in double-figure kills. Christy Stuewe had a triple-double with 19 kills, 20 digs and ten total blocks. Brooke VandenBergh had 16 kills while Kelly Lopez had 12 kills and 30 digs.
Kristen Hille wrapped up the Bison in double figures with 10 kills and 21 digs. Mattie Johnson had 53 assists and 17 digs. Kari Fagnan had 23 digs.
In the first match of the night the #1 South Dakota State Jackrabbits defeated the Westerwinds of Western Illinois, 3-0 (38-36, 30-19, 30-25).
The Mastodons (20-10, 12-4 Summit) will now face Summit League regular season champion South Dakota State at 3 PM in the Gates Center on Saturday for the Summit League Women's Volleyball Championship final match.
