Fort Wayne, IN - The Mastodons took an eleven point lead over the Franklin Grizzlies at halftime and held it out for the win, as they defeated Franklin 73-61 Wednesday night at the Gates Center.
"Some nights you just don't shoot well and things don't always go your way." said Chris Paul, head coach of the Mastodons. "But good teams find a way to win. We saw a 15 point lead in the second half go down to three but we kept with it and fought down the stretch for the win."
The 'Dons only gave up the lead shortly in the first half after the Grizzlies made two quick shots, 2-4. From there the 'Dons went on a 4-2 run to take a three point lead, 9-6. Samantha Edwards put IPFW up by nine at the 13:02 mark on a good lay-up, 22-13.

IPFW would take their largest lead at the 10:15 mark on a good three-pointer by Jordan Zuppe, 56-41. The Mastodons would continue to hold a double-digit lead for the next three minutes. The Grizzlies would go on a 10-4 run to cut the 'Dons lead to three, 62-59.
The 'Dons would extend their lead again on a 5-0 run. The Mastodons continued to hit their shots, finishing the game with a 12 point advantage, 73-61.
"We have a lot of things to work on. But I'm very proud that they stuck together and fought for the win. Now we'll go to work tomorrow to prepare for Wisconsin on Sunday. Its good to be back at .500 and to be 2-0 at home."
The Mastodons finished with three ladies in double-digit points.
Johnna Lewis-Carlisle led with 17, going 9 of 12 from the charity stripe with 3 assists, a steal and a block.
