
Lewis-Carlisle Connects for 25 in Loss to Dukes

Pittsburgh, PA - The Mastodons win streak was snapped by Duquesne as the 'Dons traveled to Pittsburgh for a contest Sunday afternoon. The Dukes edged the Mastodons 83-74.
Johnna Lewis-Carlisle started the game off with a shot to put IPFW ahead 2-0. During the next seven minutes the Mastodons held the Dukes before they moved ahead by five, 16-11 at the 12:01 mark.
The Dukes took their first double-digit lead with 5:35 left in the half, 32-11. The largest lead was at the 1:36 mark, with Duquesne up by 17, 43-26. The Mastodons would go into halftime down by 14, 45-31.
The Mastodons came out in the second half firing, cutting the Dukes lead to eight on a three-point play by Lewis-Carlisle, 53-45. Jordan Zuppe cut the lead to five on a three-pointer at the 12:50 mark, 56-51.
The Dukes had a quick 9-0 run to take a 14 point lead, 65-51. But the Mastodons once again cut the lead to single digits just three minutes later, 67-59.
A late 6-0 run, capped by Zuppe, would put IPFW in position for the win, cutting the Dukes lead to three, 73-70 with 4:02 left in the game. But the Dukes answered back with their own 5-0 run to move ahead 78-70. Duquesne would hold out for the win, 83-74.
Lewis-Carlisle led IPFW with 25 points, her fifth game this season with 20 plus points. She was 9 of 21 overall and 5-6 at the charity stripe. Lewis-Carlisle added three boards, three assists and four steals.
Zuppe connected for 12 points and four boards. She was 3 of 7 from the three-point line.
Hannah Thieke added 10 points, going 3 of 6 from beyond the arc.
Samantha Edwards and Natalie Roberts each had six rebounds. Edwards added eight points while Roberts had five.
Duquesne finished with three ladies in double-digit points. Kristi Little led the Dukes with 18 points and eight boards. Samantha Pollino had 13 points and nine boards while Keri Pryor had 14 points.
The Mastodons (4-4, 2-0 Summit) will now head to Butler University for a game on Thursday, December 20th at noon at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
IPFW will host Detroit and St. Bonaventure this weekend in a two game homestand starting on Friday. The 'Dons will face Detroit at 7 PM in the Gates Center on Friday, December 21st. On Sunday, December 23rd, the 'Dons will host the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure at 1 PM in the Gates Center.
