"Obviously we didn't shoot very well today against a very good Butler team." said head coach Chris Paul. "One thing our team is really struggling with is learning how to win on the road. We just don't know how to battle through. I'm confident we are going to be a very good basketball team at some point, but we have a ways to go. Now we can just go out tomorrow night and try to beat a very talented Detroit team."
The Mastodons were led by Lewis-Carlisle with 12 points after she had early foul trouble.
Tina Moen almost hit double digits with nine points and pulled down five boards.
Samantha Edwards and Zuppe each posted eight rebounds with Edwards adding six points and Zuppe seven.
Butler had two ladies with double-doubles. Susan Lester had 21 points and 10 boards while Lade Akande had 15 points and 10 boards. Candace Jones posted 15 points and Azjah Bass had 10 points.
The Mastodons (4-5, 2-0 Summit) will host the Detroit Titans tomorrow night at 7 PM in the Gates Center. They will wrap up 2007 with St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Game time is 1 PM in the Gates Center.
