
Volleydons Get Back on Winning Track

Erie, PA- The No. 7 IPFW Mastodons shook off a seven-hour bus ride, and a slow start, to top a stubborn Mercyhurst Laker squad, 3-1 on Saturday night at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
IPFW dropped the first set 32-30, but rallied to take the next three 30-20, 33-31, and 30-21.
The Mastodons were led by junior middle hitter Josh Stewart with 15 kills. He also had two block assists.
Junior All-America outside hitter C.J. Macias registered a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs.
Senior middle hitter Vitor Oliveria put down 11 balls and had seven block assists. He also pounded out a service ace, while hitting .769 (11-1-13).
Mercyhurst (0-11, 0-6 MIVA) was led by Tim Wagner's 17 kills. Mike Palaschack chipped in 14 kills, a solo block, and two block assists.
With the win, IPFW improves to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in conference.
The 'Dons return to action next weekend with crucial MIVA matches at Ball State (2/23) and a rematch with Ohio State (2/24).
