
IPFW Tops Quincy in Four

Fort Wayne, IN - No. 10 IPFW improved to 6-3 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a 3-1 win over Quincy University, Saturday night at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
The Mastodons topped the Hawks by the scores of 30-17, 30-22, 28-30, and 30-22.
The 'Dons cruised to wins in the first two sets, but ran into a road bump in the third, hitting just .158.
IPFW regrouped in the fourth to go to 15-7 overall.
Mastodon All-America outside hitter C.J. Macias led everyone with 18 kills.
Junior opposite Jason Yhost continued his steady play during the second half of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs, for his first double-double of the season.
Freshman libero Matt Pliske also dug up 13 balls in the match.
For one of the few times this season, IPFW was out-blocked. Quincy registered 13.0 total blocks to IPFW's 8.0 blocks.
John Markendorf and Zach Split shared team-high kill honors with eight.
IPFW has another pair of conference matches next week. The Mastodons travel to Lewis on Thursday (4/5) and host Ball State on Saturday night (4/7).
