Corvallis, Oregon - UC Davis tallied three times in each half, and kept IPFW off the board, in a 6-0 shutout in the opening match of the 2007 Oregon State Diadora Classic, Friday evening in Oregon.
The Aggies started firing shots at IPFW keeper Josh Howell as soon as the opening whistle was blown. Junior forward Quincy Amarikwa found the back of the net just 2:16 giving UC Davis all the offense they would need.
UCD also scored two-minutes into the second half on a penalty kick by junior midfielder Sule Anibaba, giving the Aggies a 4-0 margin.
Two more goals midway through the second period rounded out the scoring, giving the Aggies their third win in five tries (3-1-1).
Howell shook off the effects of an injury in IPFW's 2-2 tie with Detroit on Wednesday night to make 10 saves in the match.
The Aggies out shot the Mastodons 23-5 with Davis' net minder Brian Wickers stopping all three IPFW shots on goal he faced.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 1-4-1. They face the host Oregon State Beavers on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
