PITTSBURGH - Purdue Fort Wayne led for more than 12 minutes on Tuesday (Nov. 3) evening at Duquesne in the 2026-27 opener for both clubs, but in the end the Dukes topped the Mastodons 78-71.

Purdue Fort Wayne shot 13-of-26 from three with newcomer Tamaje Izuagbe draining 4-of-5 for 12 points. He was one of three Mastodons in double-digits. DeAndre Craig Jr. totaled a game-high 17 points with five rebounds and five assists. Anthony Isaac Jr. finished with 10 points in his Mastodon regular season debut.

The 'Dons led 37-36 at half, erasing a Dukes lead as large as 14 points. Craig made a falling down jumper at the buzzer to cap the half. Chris Morgan and Mason Shrout each had a 3-pointer in a key 8-0 run in the first to get the Mastodons back in it.

The Mastodons' biggest lead of the game came at 56-50 on a 3-pointer by Ashton Williamson with 11:29 left. Isaac made a pair of free throws to give the 'Dons a 64-62 lead with 7:12 left, but it would be their final advantage of the game. A Craig layup with 16 seconds remaining made it a three-point game, but the Dukes made their free throws down the stretch to ice the contest.

A total of 10 Mastodons scored in the contest, accounting for 29 bench points.

Ege Demir and Josh Smith both added 16 points to lead the Dukes.

The game featured eight lead changes and five ties.
