Chicago, IL - In a match that featured three penalty kicks, host DePaul topped IPFW 5-2 on Sunday afternoon in Chicago, Illinois.

DePaul was the recipient  of the first PK, just 44-seconds into the match.  Senior midfielder Jennifer Dyer took the shot for the Blue Demons and converted for the 1-0 lead.

At the 8:31 mark, sophomore forward Shannon Williams made it 2-0 DePaul, banging home a pass from junior midfielder Dominique Locascio.  Williams' shot beat IPFW keeper Malinda Holmer to the far post, and was her fourth goal of the season.

IPFW cut the Blue Demon lead to one in the 14th minute.  Sophomore midfielder Danielle Luther sent a ball into the DePaul box, a ball that Blue Demon keeper Kelsey Hoinkes thought she could get to.  As Hoinkes charged to the ball, IPFW senior forward Jenny Thornton got there first and pushed a shot past the charging keeper for her third goal of the campaign.

At the 33:22 mark, DePaul made it 3-1 on a one-timer from the foot of freshman forward Lauren Pagone.

Two more penalty kicks were awarded just a minute later.

IPFW was given the first PK at the 34:47 mark.  Luther had no trouble beating Hoinkes for her second of the year, cutting the DePaul lead to 3-2.

Less than a minute later, IPFW was whistled for a foul in the box setting up Dyer for a penalty kick.  Her kick was true, making it 4-2 at the half.

The only scoring in the second half belonged to DePaul as Locascio headed home a pass from Dyer, and the 'Dons fell to the Blue Demons, 5-2.

DePaul (3-5-1) out shot IPFW 20-2 in the match.

Holmer made four shots in the loss, while Hoinkes made no saves for the win.

With the loss, IPFW falls to 0-8-0 on the season.

They will begin conference play on Sunday (8/30) hosting Western Illinois at the Hefner Soccer Complex.  Kick off is set for 4:00 p.m.
