Mastodons Look to Move Up at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - After a 4th place finish last week at the IPFW Classic, the IPFW men's golf team is off to a slow start at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate in Clarksville, Tennessee.
IPFW is currently in 15th place after firing a 601 total through 36 holes. Host school Austin Peay State leads the event after shooting an impressive 277 on day one. Right behind the Governors in the standings are Missouri (281), Belmont (285) and Cleveland State (289).
IPFW was led by Ryan Olbin, who fired a pair of 72s on the first day, and is currently tied for 16th place in the medalist competition. Following a 79 on the first 18 holes, Tyler Haire played much better in the afternoon session, and fired a one-under 71. He is tied for 46th place.
Other IPFW scores from the opening day include: Jon Balyeat is tied for 66th with a 153 (78-75). Johnny McMillen is in 79th place with a 156 (80-76). And Jacob Bailey is tied for 85th with a 156 (78-80) total.
The 'Dons sat in a tie for 17th place after the morning session, but moved up two spots to 15th place with a 294 in the afternoon session. The event is being played at the difficult par-72, 6,886-yard Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky.
The final 18 holes will take place tomorrow morning with shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
